Anime Compilation Film ‘Ya Boy Kongming!’ Streams Music Video

The television anime of Yuto Yotsuba and Ryō Ogawa’s ‘Ya Boy Kongming!’ released a music video for the compilation film ‘Paripi Kōmei Road to Summer Sonia’ via its official X/Twitter account. The video highlights the theme tune “Resonance” brought to life by characters Eiko and Nanami, represented by 96Neko and Lezel respectively.

The movie is set to premiere in Japan on the 1st of March.

In June of 2021, Kodansha USA Publishing initiated the digital distribution of the manga in English. According to the company the manga revolves around:

The life of Kongming, a general of the Three Kingdoms, who, after a lifetime of relentless battles, on his deathbed wishes for a peaceful afterlife. Instead, he finds himself dropped in the modern day Tokyo, a city renowned for its vibrant nightlife. Can the renowned tactician adapt to this new world of parties and wild beats?

Kodansha launched the manga on their Comic Days website in Japanese in December 2019. It later started appearing in Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine from November 2021.

April 2022 saw the manga inspiring a TV anime. HIDIVE secured exclusive streaming rights for the series, simultaneously broadcasting it alongside an English dubbed version. Sentai Filmworks acquired the anime licensing rights, and went on to release it in April 2023 on home video.

In addition to the anime adaptation, the manga has been adapted into a live-action series, which aired its first episode on September 27 and concluded on November 29. There is also a stage play adaptation of the manga scheduled to run in Tokyo from May 3-6, while an Osaka staging is slated for May 10 and 11.
