April 26 Premiere Revealed for Sonic’s Live-Action Knuckles Spinoff Series Trailer
The worldwide streaming company Paramount unveiled a fresh trailer this Thursday for the upcoming real-life adaptation of a Knuckles spinoff, which is part of the popular Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. The revealed video teaser confirms that the debut of the series will happen on April 26 on Paramount+, and it is comprised of six episodes:
Paramount+ plans to start broadcasting the series in other countries from April 27 and later in the year, the show will also launch in Japan.
Initially, the show had been planned to be released in 2023.
The series will focus on the beloved character Knuckles, with versatile actor Idris Elba returning to portray this role. The talented actors Edi Patterson, Julian Barratt, Scott Mescudi, and Ellie Taylor are part of the cast. Rory McCann would be featuring in a guest-starring role. Adam Pally will be returning to his character Wade Whipple from the movies, and Tika Sumpter is also making a comeback as Maddie in a guest-starring role. Other additions to the lineup include famous names like Cary Elwes, Stockard Channing, Christopher Lloyd, Paul Scheer, and Rob Huebel.
The narrative of the series is set within the timeline between the second and third live-action movies. Here, the character Knuckles takes Wade under his wing, mentoring him in the ancient warrior practices of the Echidna tribe.
The main production team from the films is also returning to work on this series. Before mentioned movies’ director, Jeff Fowler is coming back to direct the first episode. Other directors that are contributing to the series are Ged Wright, Brandon Trost, Jorma Taccone, and Carol Banker. Executive producers of the series include Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, John Whittington, Toru Nakahara, and Elba. Whittington was also listed as the head writer, along with Brian Schacter and James Madejski.
Regarding the next installment of the series, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, is scheduled to be released on December 20.
The movie Sonic the Hedgehog 2, was launched in April 2022 in the United States, and as per Box Office Mojo, the film grossed an estimated figure of US$26.5 million on its opening day.
