April 6 Release Announced for Anime ‘Jellyfish Can’t Swim’

The official website for Doga Kobo studio’s new original anime, Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night (Yoru no Kurage wa Oyogenai), has released a fresh promotional video. The release of the anime has been scheduled for April 6th.

New members joining the anime’s voice-acting team include:

The anime’s crew has also been expanded:

The anime will premiere on the night of April 6-7 at 1:00 JST on TOKYO MX and BS11 channels. It will later be broadcasted on Kansai TV and AT-X on April 7th, followed by HTB and Hokkaido TV on April 8. This project is being undertaken to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Doga Kobo studio.

KanoeRana performs the opening theme, Irodori, while the ending theme, Ichi-nichi wa 25-jikan, is sung by Anna Tsurushima (which can be heard in the video above). The mysterious artist “JELEE” has also contributed an insert song produced by the musician 40mP.

A premiere screening followed by a cast panel discussion is planned for March 3rd, in Japan.


The rest of the cast includes:

The story, set in Shibuya, credits JELEE for the original work and has Ryohei Takeshita (Eromanga Sensei) as its director. Popman3580 is the original character designer, with designs adapted for animation by Junichirô Taniguchi (Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side, Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru). Yûki Yaku (Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki) is writing and overseeing the scripts. Other contributors include:

A manga adaptation of the anime by Niko Fujii is set to be released next April on the Magazine Pocket app (Kodansha).
