Byung Gyu Kim Appointed as New Co-CEO of Netmarble

Netmarble, a South Korean video game development and publishing company, announced on Wednesday the appointment of Byung Gyu Kim as their new co-CEO, alongside Young-sig Kwon. Kim’s official title change from the role of Vice President will take effect after the shareholder meeting in March.

The former co-CEO, Gi-wook Do, will now serve as the company’s Chief Financial Officer.

The gaming studio is known for its development of the game Seven Knights, which inspired the anime series SEVEN KNIGHTS REVOLUTION: Hero Successor that was released in 2021. Netmarble also developed the mobile game Blade & Soul Revolution, based on NCSoft’s MMO game. Moreover, this game further inspired an anime adaptation in 2014. The company is also recognized for their development of Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds,which was inspired by the Ni no Kuni game from Level 5; and Tower of God: New World, adapted from the manhwa series by SIU(whose anime was released in 2020 and a sequel is slated for release this year). Netmarble also developed the game Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross, adapted from the manga created by Nakaba Suzuki.

In addition, the company facilitated the South Korean distribution of the smartphone game Fate/Grand Order, developed by Lasengle, Aniplex, and Type-Moon.
