Captain Symphonica: New Manga Launched by Kia Asamiya
Manga artist Kia Asamiya announced on Twitter on December 29 that he will launch a new series named Captain Symphonica. The series will make its first appearance in Takeshobo‘s Web Comic Gamma this January. This magazine generally releases issues on the 10th, 20th, and 30th days of each month.
The manga addresses a “retro future sci-fi action” narrative, featuring a silver-winged spaceship named “Blitzen”. This spaceship safeguards the peace of the solar system by deploying its sonic star weapon “Symphonica Waffe.”
Asamiya concluded the Speope!! (Space Opera!!) manga with the eighth volume on December 26. The artist initiated the manga series in Young King Ours in March 2019. Shonengahosha released the manga’s sixth edition on September 30.
Asamiya is known for creating the Silent Möbius, Steam Detectives, Compiler, and Junk: Record of the Last Hero manga series among others. He contributed to the character designs for Martian Successor Nadesico anime, which he later made into the Nadesico manga. The Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace film was transformed into a manga by him, and he authored and created the Batman: The Child of Dreams comic. Several of his manga creations have been turned into anime.
