Dai Shiina Launches New Manga, Creator of ‘The World is Still Beautiful’
Hakusensha‘s 63rd edition of the Hana Yume Ai online magazine introduced readers to the first installment of Himitsu to Hanazono or “Secret and Garden,” a fresh manga series by distinguished illustrator Dai Shiina this past Saturday.
This light-hearted manga revolves around Muku, a 19-year-old domestic help, extended an intriguing offer to partake in a live-interview for an in-house job at a notorious property infamously called the “devil’s mansion.” This daunting house is, surprisingly, endowed with an appealingly picturesque garden and is a dwell-place for two strikingly gorgeous sisters however, chilling shrieks can be frequently heard echoing from within the mansion.
It was just recently, in February 2023, that Shiina had wrapped up the “Shining Star” (also known as “Kagayakeru Hoshi”) mini-manga series.Hakusensha‘s Hana to Yume magazine featured the debut of this mini-manga series in December 2022.
Shiina contributed two standalone stories in 2009 and again in 2011 to the Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii manga, followed by launching the complete series in the same magazine in 2012. This entire series successfully came to a close in May 2020.
In April 2014, this manga motivated the creation of a TV anime show. Crunchyroll showcased the series whilst it was being aired under the name The World Is Still Beautiful. Later, the anime series was acquired by Sentai Filmworks who subsequently introduced it to audiences in 2015 through Blu-ray Disc and DVD releases.
