In the movie, Kikkawa lends his voice to Maestro Vento, making it his maiden venture into voice acting. (He has, however, previously provided narration for the Gifū Dōdō!! Kanetsugu to Keiji anime.) Maestro Vento is the leader of robot musicians inhabiting the planet Musica, and he also manages the planet’s music hall. Ishimaru, on the other hand, portrays the character of Wakner, a robot musician marking his first appearance in the Doraemon film series.

The much-anticipated 43rd edition of the franchise film is set to premiere on March 1, 2024, in Japan.

Kyōko Yoshine (a performer in live-action films such as Princess Jellyfish, Seven Days War, and Kasane) is the voice behind Miina, a singer who has found immense success overseas. She is a fresh addition to the characters and her role is pivotal to the plot of the film.

The film’s previously introduced characters, not yet associated with cast members, are:

Mikka, a girl from Mushiika, a picturesque planet abundant in “fare” or music

And Chapekku, a Mushiika robot in charge of caring for Mikka

Notably, the comedy duo Kagaya (Shō Kaga and Sōya Gaya) are set to appear in multiple roles in the film. Apart from Gaya portraying an older gentleman who sings Enka songs, the duo will portray manzai comedy performers and a pair of street musicians.

This new film carries a musical theme throughout, as Doraemon and his companions embark on a journey to meet new friends, bridge connections using the power of music, and prevent a global crisis.

Kazuaki Imai (Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s Treasure Island and Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s New Dinosaur) has taken the reins as the director of the film. The scripting is done by Teruko Utsumi, a writer for the Doraemon television anime. Current cast members of the television series have also lent their voices to their respective film characters.

Vaundy is set to deliver the film’s theme song, titled “Time Paradox.”

The franchise’s 42nd anime film, titled Doraemon the Movie 2023: Nobita’s Sky Utopia, debuted in Japan on March 3, 2023. On its opening weekend, it secured the #1 spot, selling 542,000 tickets and earning approximately US $4.87 million in the first three days of release.
