Kuzushiro’s Egao no Taenai Shokuba Desu TV Anime Workplace Confirmed
The ninth edition of Kuzushiro’s manga series “Egao no Taenai Shokuba Desu” (The Workplace Where a Smile is Non-Negotiable) is slated for a television adaptation in 2025, courtesy of animation company VoiL. The announcement was celebrated by Kuzushiro with a commemorative illustration, rewarding fans of the comic book series.
The narrative revolves around Nana Futami, an up-and-coming shōjo comic artist, who enjoys the constant support of her woman editor, Kaede Satō, and assistant, Mizuki Hazama. Undeterred by the psychological strain in the form of mind-boggling illusions that she attributes to her job, Nana strives to keep working with the aid provided by her associates.
The manga initially saw light as a single edition in Kodansha’s Kiss magazine in February 2019. The regular publication kicked off in May 2019 on Kodansha’s Comic Days website and app.
Prior to “Egao no Taenai Shokuba Desu,” Kuzushiro introduced “Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san” through Ichijinsha’s Comic Yuri Hime magazine in 2011, bringing it to closure in January 2017. The final, 6th edition was published by Ichijinsha in August 2017. The comic, rounded up into a television series comprised of 13 episodes, aired in Japan in April 2014, and was simultaneously streamed by Crunchyroll.
Afterwards, Kuzushiro drew curtains on “Chihaya-san wa Sono Mama de Ii” (Just as You Are, Chihaya-san) in May 2018. The series was launched in December 2014 in Shueisha’s Jump SQ. Magazine.
Later in December 2015, Kuzushiro started her ongoing project “Living With My Brother’s Wife”(“Ani no Yome to Kurashiteimasu.”). It was first rolled out as a one-shot in April 2015 within the pages of Square Enix’s Young Gangan magazine. The 14th edition was released by the Square Enix on September 25. The manga series is available in digital English language format on Square Enix’s Manga UP! Global site. The collection recently saw its addition to the BookWalker global store.
Kuzushiro then embarked on her next manga, “Tobaku Senpai Nani Kakeru?” in February 2017 and was featured in Futabasha’s Manga Action magazine. The second reprint came out in May 2018. The manga artist’s next project was “Mama Akuma,” which she launched on the Gangan Online website of Square Enix in October 2018. The comic’s second volume was ready for December 2020, and an English translation was subsequently published by Yen Press in February 2022.
