The serialisation commenced on the website Shônen Ace Plus (Kadokawa) in March 2021, with its preceding volume, the 4th one, being published on June 26 of the same year.

The original novels came into existence online on the Shôsetsuka ni Narô website in December 2018, and the most recent chapter was uploaded on August 1. Hobby Japan issues the novels in physical format in Japan, featuring illustrations by Sabamizore; the 8th volume was released in April 2023.

These novels were adapted into anime form in July 2023, known in France as The Dreaming Boy Is a Realist and available on the ADN platform:
