New Original TV Anime Mayonaka Punch Unveiled by P.A. Works

Kadokawa in collaboration with P.A. Works announced a brand-new original TV anime series called Mayonaka Punch (Midnight Punch) this past Friday. The exciting new series is set to debut in July.

The plot of this new “girls comedy” anime revolves around “NewTubers,” individuals who post videos on the world’s largest video sharing platform “NewTube.” The anime prominently features two characters, Masaki (shown at the bottom of the poster) and Ribu (shown at the top).

Highlighting the continuity of strong teamwork, the principal members of the Ya Boy Kongming! anime team will return for Mayonaka Punch, including director Shū Honma, scriptwriter Hideaki Shirasaka, and the studio P.A. Works. Ryōta Arima, who served as the chief animation director for The Quintessential Quintuplets ∬, is tasked with transforming Tsukasa Kotobuki‘s original character designs (from shows such as Saber Marionette J and Cyberteam in Akihabara) into animation. Credit for the original concept goes to “Dōga Tōkō Shōjo” (Video Submission Girls).

In addition to the high anticipation surrounding the anime, the project is slated to include a manga and a novel adaptation. Tomomi Usui who is known for Cube Arts is set to release the manga adaptation in Kadokawa‘s monthly Young Ace magazine commencing with the April 2024 edition, which will be available starting March 4
