Nissy, SKY-HI of AAA Perform Theme Song for BLUELOCK -Episode Nagi- Film

The official film portal for the anime adaptation of film based on Kōta Sannomiya’s spinoff to the football manga, Blue Lock, penned by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yūsuke Nomura – BLUELOCK -Episode Nagi-, announced that musical artists, Nissy and SKY-HI, would lend their voices to the theme song of the film, entitled “Stormy”. The release of the theme song’s single is set for April 17.

Takahiro Nishijima, a member of the squad AAA, works independently under the moniker Nissy, while Mitsuhiro Hidaka, also a part of the band, is known for his independent work by the name of SKY-HI.

The anime film sees multiple returning cast and staff members. Shunsuke Ishikawa, the assistant director of the original anime TV series, has taken on the role of director for the film at 8-Bit studio. The series scripts are being overseen and written by Taku Kishimoto who is known for his work on Haikyu!!, Silver Spoon, and the 2019 rendition of Fruits Basket. Kaneshiro has provided direct oversight to the story, with Nomura being credited as the character designer. The music for the film is being composed by Jun Murayama.

The film BLUELOCK -Episode Nagi- is set to premiere in Japan on the 19th of April.

The spinoff manga narrative centres around the journey of Seishirō Nagi before he joins the acclaimed Blue Lock institution. The publishing company, Kodansha USA Publishing, announced in October that it plans to distribute the manga’s paper version in the autumn of 2024.

Kodansha USA Publishing is also responsible for bringing out the original Blue Lock manga in digital English edition, along with a paper print variant. The publisher has described the plot of the story as:

In the aftermath of a catastrophic defeat at the 2018 World Cup, pressures are high as Japan’s football team attempts to recover. The missing piece of the puzzle? A definitive Ace Striker capable of guiding them to triumph. The Japan Football Union is passionately committed to creating a striker who yearns for goals and victory and has the ability to shift the tide in a losing match. Towards this end, they have gathered Japan’s topmost 300 youth players. The question is, who will rise to lead the team and possess the fortitude to outdo everyone in their path?

The football-themed manga was first launched by Kaneshiro and Nomura in the Weekly Shōnen Magazine in August 2018.

The original TV anime series, BLUELOCK TV, made its debut in Japan in October of 2022. Streaming platform, Crunchyroll, streamed the series in real-time, in addition to airing an English dubbed version. The anime is set to be followed by a second season.
