Octopath Traveler: Mobile RPG Champions of the Continent Gets Manga Adaptation
The inaugural chapter of the manga adaptation of Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent ~The story of Bargello family~ has been published by the Square Enix‘s Manga UP! app and website. Shibatarō Nakamura is responsible for the original storyline of this manga based on the mobile RPG game Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent by Square Enix. The manga’s layout and artwork is credited to ot while the Champions of the Continent Management Team oversees its production.
The manga, which serves as a prequel, follows the early life and experiences of the character Bargello, before he becomes well known. The story begins in the town of Valore, where Bargello spends his days with his friends. He chances upon a young woman running away from the avaricious witch, Herminia, and manages to aid her. Through this encounter, Bargello becomes entangled with the mystery of a ring the young woman wears. Believed to possess mystical powers, this ring ties Bargello and his friends’ destinies to the runaway and Herminia.
The mobile RPG game Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, is a precursor to the original game and set in the same land of Orsterra. It was released in Japan and globally on iOS and Android devices in October 2020 and July 2022, respectively.
The original Octopath Traveler game was made available globally in July 2018 on the Nintendo Switch. It later debuted on the PC via the Steam platform in June 2019 and on the Stadia platform in April 2020. As of today, over 3 million copies of Octopath Traveler have been sold globally. The developing team behind the successful Bravely Default game also contributed to the creation of Octopath Traveler.
The sequel, Octopath Traveller II was launched on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam in February 2023. The game is also slated for release on the Xbox platform within the year.
