Rakuen Tsuihō: Sequel Anime Film for Expelled From Paradise, “Liberated from Paradise”
On Saturday, Toei Animation announced the production of a brand-new full-length anime movie, a sequel to its 2014 film Expelled from Paradise. The sequel is known as Rakuen Tsuihō: Liberated from Paradise (also titled Rakuen Tsuihō: Kokoro no Resonance). Toei Animation unveiled the movie during its “Virtual Anime Fes” livestream event held on the same day.
The core team from Expelled from Paradise are set to return for the sequel, including director Seiji Mizushima, scriptwriter Gen Urobuchi from Nitroplus, character designer Masatsugu Saitō, and music composer NARASAKI.
Along with the announcement, a key visual for the film was also shared.
Expelled from Paradise premiered in 13 Japanese theaters in November 2014, selling over 110,000 tickets. Its Blu-ray Disc and DVD variant in Japan sold in excess of 70,000 copies. It then bagged the Best Animation of the Year Award at the 24th Japan Movie Critics Awards in May 2015.
Aniplex of America launched Expelled from Paradise in 15 theaters across the United States in December 2014. The firm later made available the film on Blu-ray Disc in North, Central, and South America in June 2015.
