Ekiden Danshi Project
(Men’s Long-Distance Relay Race Project) manga series will be on break, with plans to resume this spring.

Previously, the manga took an hiatus in July 2023 before returning in the fall.

The manga series by Takahashi was initiated in the Weekly Big Comic Spirits in May 2022. The manga’s third volume was published by Shogakukan on December 27. Back in 2018, Takahashi had announced that he intended to launch a manga focusing on the university ekiden race in 2019.

The narrative of the manga focuses on the character Hayata, an athlete in track and field who seizes the opportunity to join a private university’s long-distance relay team, eyeing a full university scholarship. During the recruitment of team members, Hayata and other aspiring athletes were put to the test through a half-marathon race, and a representative team was formed on the spot. However, the team found itself far from being harmonious.

Viz Media launched Takahashi’s Saikano manga series in North America. The series went on to inspire a television anime series, an original video anime, and a live-action movie.
