Shiro Moriya Launches New Soloist in a Cage Manga on February 3
Shiro Moriya, popular manga illustrator, is all set to release a brand-new manga named ‘Astro Baby.’ The big announcement came in the ninth issue of this year’s Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, on Monday. Fans can expect the launch to be on Shonen Jump+ service, dated February 3.
Astro Baby, a forthcoming science-fiction suspense manga, revolves around a devastating scenario created by a virulent, cannibalistic disease, known as Cooper’s Disease, leading to the desolation of the world. As a result, North Hill, a remote town, is compelled into a tight lockdown. Billy, a soldier hailing from the same town, returns after a span of six years to meet his beloved lady amidst this chaos.
In 2018, Moriya kicked off his previous manga, ‘Soloist in A Cage,’ on the Shonen Jump+ platform under the umbrella of Shueisha. However, due to Moriya’s unforeseen health issues, it went into a break in March 2019. Fortunately, the manga made a successful comeback in April 2021. But, it concluded its journey in June 2021. Shueisha released the manga’s final and third volume in September 2021. Shueisha launched its English version simultaneously on the MANGA Plus English manga website back in January 2019.
Seven Seas, a publishing company specializing in Japanese content, later acquired the licensing rights of the manga. It is now available both in print and digital format.
