Toei Animation & Sonic Designer Naoto Oshima Launch Hypergalactic CG Animated Film

Toei Animation, widely recognized for its creation of animated features, has released news on Tuesday about an upcoming CGI animated film. The film, known as Hypergalactic, is the brainchild of Sonic the Hedgehog original character designer, Naoto Oshima. Not only is Oshima behind the story and the characters, he is in partnership with Joseph Chou, best known for his work on The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. The film’s direction is being managed by David N. Weiss, previously known for his work on Shrek 2.

The movie has a star-studded roster which includes Adam Devine, Elsie Fisher, J.K. Simmons, and Sam Richardson.

The narrative orbits around a fearless teenage girl breath life into the protagonist, Fisher, who along with her infant sibling embarks on an adventure in the foreseeable future. They awaken the abandoned guardian of the Earth, Ohkan (played by Devine), with a hopeful heart that he can guide them to their lost parents. Their journey eventually leads them to explore the essence of what it truly means to be a family.

Yoshi Ikezawa from Toei Animation is the producer for this film. It is going to be managed by executive producers Kōzō Morishita, Katsuhiro Takagi and Tim Kwok. The film’s global distribution is being handled by Charades and it is set to launch its sales at the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin come February, in collaboration with the founder of Iwashina Corporation, Kevin Iwashina, who is also an advisor to Toei Animation.
