Anime “Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night” Reveals Piano Performer, Key Visual
The official web portal of Doga Kobo‘s unique television anime serial Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night (also known as Yoru no Kurage wa Oyogenai) revealed the key visual for the anime on Wednesday. It was also announced by the team behind the anime that pop pianist and famed YouTuber Haramichan will provide the piano performances for the series.
The main visual for the under-the-radar artist and contributor to the story, “JELEE,” was also unveiled by the staff of the anime.
The anime is set to make its debut on April 6 on the
TOKYO MX
and
BS11
channels, starting at 25:00 JST which essentially translates to April 7 at 1:00 a.m. JST or April 6 at 12:00 p.m. EDT. Subsequently, the anime will be aired on
Kansai TV
and
AT-X
channels on April 7 and on
HTB
Hokkaido TV
on April 8, with more platforms in the pipeline. The anime is part of the 50th-anniversary celebrations of
Doga Kobo
.
The cast of the anime includes:
- Miku Itō taking up the role of Mahiru Kōzuki;
- Rie Takahashi voicing Kano Yamanouchi;
- Miyu Tomita as Kiwi Watase;
- Miyuri Shimabukuro giving voice to Mei “Kim Anouk” Takanashi;
- Sumire Uesaka as Miiko;
- Miho Okasaki playing Mero Setō;
- Yukina Shutō interpreting the character Momoko Yanagi;
- Sally Amaki as Akari Suzumura.
The anime will be a coming-of-age tale focused on a group of girls in Shibuya, bringing their creativity to life. JELEE serves as the originator of the work and Ryohei Takeshita (Eromanga Sensei) will be directing the series for Doga Kobo. The original character design is attributed to popman3580, while Junichirō Taniguchi, known for Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story and Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru, will adapt these designs for the animation. The series scripts will be written and supervised by Yūki Yaku, the author of Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki light novel.
“Irodori” (or ‘coloring’ in English), the anime’s opening theme song, is performed by KanoeRana and the ending theme song “Ichi-nichi wa 25-jikan” (A Day Is 25 Hours) will be performed by female singer Anna Tsurushima. Musician 40mP will produce a unique insert song for “JELEE,” the anonymous artist who has contributed to the anime’s storyline.
